During my heyday.

The words may be true but I realize, it isn’t deception so much as disguise.

Last night, the girlfriend’s mother came home with a pomelo she shook off a tree in the park opposite their building. This evening, while we watch the news report on local farmers making an early harvest of pomelos in precautions against Typhoon Pheonix, the girlfriend announced that we ought to do the same for the same tree her mother picked hers from. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how we ended up with seven pomelos on the dining table.

None of the pomelos were ready for consumption yet and the girlfriend was eager to explore alternate recipes. We tried to make Honey Pomelo Tea but gradually realised it wasn’t going to happen by cooking bits of pomelo fruit in water and tea leaves.

The fruit was overcooked and the tea leaves made the drink too bitter to resemble anything like the pomelo tea we love to order in restaurants.

The girlfriend decided to try the juicer instead. This time, we added a large amount of honey vinegar to play safe. It turned out drinkable, but had way too much pulp.

We filtered it and I thought it turned out pretty awesome, even though it must be said that the honey helped a lot.
