It has taken me eight flights in and out of Taipei to realise that even though the destination on my air ticket says Taipei (TPE), I’m really landing in Taoyuan – which is another county all together! Sneaky.

The night before I left for Taipei again, we met up for drinks at Café Iguana. We exchanged banter over lychee martini and spied on the female colleague who might or might not have leaned a little too close into Jiahui’s boyfriend.

For a few years now, we have made a habit of coming together for a Chinese New Year meal in celebration of the idea of reunion. It is a reunion for me in a profound sense, having been away from home for more than a year now.
